Kanye West identifies with Vanellope von Schweetz; an animated character from Wreck It Ralph of course.

This is just awesome. Kanye West compares himself to Vanellope von Schweetz, a character from Wreck-It-Ralph in a recent interview. No matter what you think of Kanye, the fact that he can sympathize and identify with a strong animated character is brilliant. I love it.

Kanye says “It’s in my code. Have y’all ever seen Wreck-It Ralph? Remember how that girl in there—the people that was racing—she was the glitch. You tellin’ me they don’t look at me like the motherfucking glitch? You tellin’ me people don’t look at Kanye West like the glitch right now? And she was on the side of the videogame the whole time. It’s in my code.”

From cartoonbrew; When the interviewer mentioned West’s critics, Kanye extended the metaphor by talking about Vanellope’s foes, who tried to keep prevent her from participating in the race by breaking her kart. “Yeah, they broke Vanellope’s car,” West responded. “Vanellope von Schweetz, they broke her car.”

My Inspiration of The Day: Look Books

Yesterday I saw this slideshow of the evolution of Kanye West's style. It's a bit crazy that celebrities have their outfits tracked and put into public slide shows for the world to see. It's also fascinating to be able to click through images and get a sense of a person's style evolution. One of my favourite blogs is The Cut by New York Magazine. A favourite "celebrity" of this blog is Kate Middleton and she's got her very own slideshow there as well. On the front page there are links to the most popular or trending slideshows and you can access them all if you hit "more look books".

Personal style is personal expression. Sometimes we want to dress down, sometimes we want to dress up. We may have a current favourite colour or fabric or pattern. Maybe we follow trends or reject them. There's a reason behind our choices. A film maker or character designer would do well to remember that the personal style of a person reflects how they feel at a given moment and that personal style evolves, just as does the person wearing it.
